Swallows fly in

baby swallows

the earliest we’ve seen them this year, first one on the 28th March and then three on the 29th and already nest building in the barn.  Wonder if one of these babies made it back?

RED KITEThe air is alive with the sounds of skylarks today and a red kite seen over the common yesterday.  Glorious blue sky days.


Despite the warmth winter birds now in abundance, redwings, charms of goldfinches, longtailed tits, fieldfares in large flocks and yesterday a hen harrier being mobbed by a raven over Dotton in the Otter valley close to Colaton Raleigh.

The Diary Loft 2016

This is our first blog post for the Diary Loft. We’ve had a great year for 2015 and are looking to attract even more people to the loft for 2016.
